Amy Kuo

Amy began dancing at the age of 7 when she learned Chinese folk dancing at the Elegant Arts Institute.  At 12, she joined the Southern California Dance Academy to train in ballet and, in high school, continued her training with the Classical/Contemporary Dance Department at the Orange County High School of the Arts (OCHSA).  Amy subsequently attended the University of California, Berkeley and majored in economics.  Although she did not major in dance, she did join an on-campus jazz/hip-hop/swing dance group called The Movement.  After graduating from college, Amy wanted to keep dancing, so she started taking a jazz class taught by Jennifer Sustaita, a member of the Nannette Brodie Dance Theatre (NBDT) who later introduced her to the company.  Amy joined NBDT in 2004.  After having taken a leave of absence for a couple years to study registered nursing, she is excited to be dancing with the company full-time again.
