Jennie Sustaita
Jennie received her B.F.A in Dance from California State University, Long Beach in 2001. She is a Body Arts and Science certified pilates instructor and teaches dance throughout Long Beach and Cerritos. In 2003, Jennie created a state model program for Arts Orange County that teaches creative dance to children. That same year she taught at the American College Dance Festival in Modesto, California. Jennie has been a company member of the Nannette Brodie Dance Theatre since 2001 and has enjoyed touring with them throughout California, New York, Chicago, Las Vegas, Utah, Arizona and Europe. In 2007, she formed her own company and that April, Sustaita Dance Company made its premier at the Dance Grand Prix Festival in Barcelona, Spain. During that festival, she won an award in choreography for her piece, "In The Fold." That same piece won an "audiences choice" award at the MAD BAD Festival in Concord, California. In 2008, she traveled with the company to teach and perform in Helsinki, Finland. Jennie has also performed with Indigo Dance Theater, Moving Arts Dance Company and Nickerson/Rossi Dance. Jennie has studied with Murray Louis, Kay Anderson, Alberto Del Saz, Risa Stienberg, Dan Wagoner, Susan McLain, Keith Johnson, Andy Vaca, Sharon Kinney, Doug Nielson, Alaine Haubert and Amanda Turner among others. Jennie has choreographed for the Golden West College dance concerts and also for the Nannette Brodie Dance Theatre. Her choreography, "El Mundo de las Mujeres" was invited to perform at Sevilla in Long Beach in 2006 at an awards banquet honoring Hispanic women. Jennie's work has been showcased throughout California, Las Vegas, Utah and Europe. She would like to thank her amazing husband Jeff, and her beautiful daughter Iliana, for their constant love and support.
