JENNIE SUSTAITA (2001)

Jennie Sustaita received her BFA in Dance from CSU Long Beach in 2001.  She is a BASI certified pilates instructor and has taught dance throughout Los Angeles and Orange County.  In 2003, she helped develop a California state model program for Arts Orange County that taught creative dance for children.  That same year she taught a master class at the American College Dance Festival in Modesto, California.

 

Jennie has been a member of NBDT since 2001. She has enjoyed touring with the company throughout California, New York, Chicago, Las Vegas, Utah, Arizona, and Europe. In 2006, Jennie choreographed "El Mundo de las Mujeres" on NBDT.  She was honored to showcase that choreography at Sevilla in Long Beach for a benefit dinner honoring Hispanic women.  Jennie has also performed with Indigo Dance Theater, Moving Arts Dance Company, Nickerson/Rossi Dance, and Bobby Avalos and Dancers. 

 

In 2007, Jennie formed  Sustaita Dance Company.  It made its debut at the Dance Grand Prix Festival in Barcelona, Spain, winning an award for her choreography "In the Fold".  That same work also won an award at The Mad Bad Festival in Concord, California. Jennie has studied with Nannette Brodie, Andy Vaca, Susan McLain, Keith Johnson, Sharon Kinney, Alaine Haubert, Doug Nielson, Murray Louis, Alberto Del Saz, Risa Steinberg, Amanda Turner, Peter Kalivas and other well noted choreographers. 

 

She would like to thank her incredibly supportive husband Jeff, and her 3 awesome children, Ivy, Sophia, and Jackson, for their constant love and support.
